# WhatsApp QR code

The WhatsApp QR code will open the WhatsApp message app and prefill the message and the phone number you connected, the user only has to press send, to send the message when the QR code is scanned.

1. Select the **WhatsApp** tab in the SQR QR generator [here](https://sqr.co/qr/whatsapp).
2. Fill in the phone number you want to send an SMS to when it’s scanned.
3. Fill in the prefilled message in the input below the phone number.
4. Now the preview QR code will change to your custom QR code and you can scan it to see if everything is working properly before you download your QR code.
5. (optional) [Customize](/guides/customise-a-qr-code.md) the look of your QR code
6. Click “Create”
7. Your QR code is now visible in your [Dashboard](https://sqr.co/dashboard) and ready to [download](/guides/download-qr-codes.md) if you’re logged in. You can read more about downloading your QR codes [here](/guides/download-qr-codes.md).
