# What is a text QR code?

A text QR code is a type of QR code that contains plain text information. QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can be scanned using a smartphone or QR code scanner to access information or perform an action, such as opening a website or downloading an app.

Text QR codes are created by encoding text into the QR code using a QR code generator tool or software. The resulting QR code can be printed or displayed on a screen, and then scanned by a user to reveal the text information encoded within it.

Text QR codes can be used in a variety of applications, such as providing instructions or additional information about a product or service, sharing contact information or links to social media profiles, or displaying a message or promotional offer.

One advantage of text QR codes is that they can store a large amount of information in a small space, which makes them a convenient way to share information without the need for typing or manually entering text.

In summary, a text QR code is a type of QR code that encodes plain text information and can be scanned using a smartphone or QR code scanner to reveal the information encoded within it. It's a versatile tool for sharing information in a compact and efficient way.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.sqr.co/guides/creating-a-qr-code/text-qr-code/what-is-a-text-qr-code.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
