They are a convenient tool for simplifying payment transactions and verifying the authenticity of PayPal accounts and transactions. # Customise a QR code With the SQR QR generator you can fully customise your QR codes and make them really unique to the style of your brand so your customers will easily recognise it your QR code they are scanning. We will explain the different style settings we have currently have intergrated below. ### Style Here you can select the style of your QR code currently SQR offers 3 different styles, Square, Dots, and Round. Select the different types and see a direct preview of the style in the QR code you’re creating. ### Foreground type In this section your can choose of you want a flat color for your QR code or if you want a nice and smooth gradient color for your QR code. ### Foreground color If you have chosen the a flat color in the foreground section for you QR code, you will see the foreground color picker pop up, click the color to choose any color your want to make your QR code. We recommend not to make your color to light unless you pick a dark color as a background color. You can also set the transparantie of the background of your QR code here. ### Foreground gradient style If you have chosen the gradient style in the foreground section you will see a dropdown where you can select the different **style of gradient**. In the preview you can really see what is the difference per style so play around with it until you find one that you like. You will also see two new color pickers to select the first and the second color of your gradient style QR code. You can also set the transparantie of the background of your QR code here. ### Custom eyes color In this section you can control the color of the bigger squares in the corner. If you have chosen for a gradient QR code and set the custom eye colors to no your eyes color will also have the nice smooth gradient you’ve created. After you filled in the details of your QR code look for the “Add a logo” and click on it to open the uploader and logo settings. 3. Now you can upload your logo and play around with the slider below the uploader to select the perfect size of your logo. {% hint style="info" %} If you add a custom logo to your QR code it could be that it’s inscanable this happens when you customise a QR code to much. To make sure you’re QR code works even after you customise your QR code we have implementen ”Quality settings“ if you increase this number your QR code is more likely to work after customisation. Click edit on the QR code you want to edit:
3. Then go to the "add a logo" section and check the "Delete uploaded file" checkbox
4. Now when you hit "Update" the logo will be removed. # QR quality settings ### Size Here you can set the size (in pixels) of how big you wan the QR code to be when you download it. You can read more about the [Minimal size here](/questions-and-answers/about-qr-codes-in-general/what-is-the-minimum-size-of-a-qr-code), so your customers are always able to scan the QR code when you’ve printed it. ### Margin size This means it will create a nice border around your QR code with your QR code in the center, if you edit the background color you can create a cool border around your custom QR code. ### Error correction capability The error correction capability settings come in handy when you’re [customising your QR code](/guides/customise-a-qr-code) and still want to be able to scan the QR code. If your QR code stopped working after customisation you can increase the settings and test again, keep increasing until you found the right settings for your custom QR code. # Download QR codes {% hint style="warning" %} Before you download your QR codes make sure to scan/test them with your own phone and they work properly. {% endhint %} ## Download QR codes from your dashboard When you’re logged in to your dashboard you can find all the QR codes you have saved [here](https://sqr.co/qr-codes). In your overview all the way to the right next to the three vertical dots you will see a download icon if you press it you will see the different formats in which you can download your QR codes. Click one of the download and you’re ready to save your QR code on your device. ## Download QR codes straight from the QR generator When you are creating a QR code in the SQR QR generater we will show you a live update of the QR code you are creating. Underneeth the QR preview you will see a download button that you can press at any moment in your proccess. When you click the download button you will see the different formats in which you can download your QR codes. Click one of the download and you’re ready to save your QR code on your device. # Print QR codes {% hint style="warning" %} Before you download and print your QR codes make sure to scan/test them with your own phone and they work properly. {% endhint %} After you [downloaded](/guides/download-qr-codes) your the QR code you created with SQR, you are ready to print your QR code. Make sure you read what the [minimal size](/questions-and-answers/about-qr-codes-in-general/what-is-the-minimum-size-of-a-qr-code) should be of your QR code so customers can always scan your QR codes. # App store or Google Play? Is there a way to generate a QR code that will open either the Apple App Store or the Google Play store depending on the device used? Yes, this is possible. You can [connect a short link to your QR code](/dashboard/dynamic-short-links/connect-a-dynamic-short-link-to-your-qr-codes) and then in the settings > Targeting of the short link you can set different destinations based on the operating system:
First, go to the tab "Targeting" and then choose the targeting type "Operating System" this allows you to add multiple operating systems and the destination per operating system. When the user's operating system is not in the targeting list it will take them to the initial destination. # Main dashboard overview Here you can find an overview of your QR codes, Dynamic Short links, Projects, Pixels, and Custom Domains. You can quickly edit or download your last QR codes or create a new one via the Blue button. At the top of your personal dashboard, you can easily jump to the assets you want to see and see how many of each you have created. After creation you can now edit your dynamic short link and add: Pixels, Schedule a temporary destination URL, Target, Password protect it, and add it to one of your projects. # Dynamic short link Analytics To see a detailed overview of your analytics for your QR code and or Short link, you can go to the overview of your [dynamic short links here](https://sqr.co/links). In the row of the short link, if you want to see the analytics you can click on the icon under the label "Stats" or click on the three vertical dot icons to open your analytics dashboard for that short link. To collect analytics for a QR code you will need to [connect a dynamic short link to your URL QR code](/dashboard/dynamic-short-links/connect-a-dynamic-short-link-to-your-qr-codes).
# Connect a Dynamic short link to your QR codes 1. Go to the [QR editor](https://sqr.co/qr/url) or create a new one, select the URL type 2. Check the **dynamic QR code** check box 3. If you already have created a dynamic short link you can select the one you want to use from the drop-down. If not you can [create a dynamic short link here](https://sqr.co/link-create) 4. That's it, hit create or save and your dynamic QR is created! You can now change the destination at any time from the [Dynamic short link](/dashboard/dynamic-short-links) you connected to your QR code.
# Short link targeting When you're editing your dynamic short link you can see the tab "Targeting" here you can set up lots of different types to target your audience. **Country** When you select a country from the dropdown you will be able to add different destinations for every country you want. **Device type** When you select a device type from the dropdown you will be able to have up to 3 different destinations for your short link, Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop. **Browser language** When you select browser language from the dropdown you will be able to add different destinations for every language you want. **Rotation & A/B testing** When you select rotation & A/B testing from the dropdown you can add different destinations based on a percentage you fill in. For example, you can add two destinations with both having 50% of the traffic pointed to them, for example, to see which destination is performing better. **Operating system** When you select operating system type from the dropdown you will be able to have up to 7 different destinations for your short link, iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Linux, Ubuntu, or Chrome OS. You could use this feature to send your customers to the right app store. # Short link protection When you're editing your dynamic short link you can see the tab "Protection" here you can set a password to protect your short link or turn on the "Sensitive content warning". # Temporary URL If you edit your dynamic short link you will see the tab "Temporary URL" here you can schedule a different URL with a start and end date, this could be useful for a discount offer for a limited time for example You can also show a different URL based on the number of views your dynamic URL gets.
# Set up UTM campaigns When you create a new URL QR code or a dynamic short link you can add the UTM details to your destination URL. A good tool to help you set up your campaign can be [found here](http://tools.sqr.co/tools/utm_link_generator). Below you can see an example of a static QR:

# How to set up A/B testing?
A/B Testing is a short link feature found in URL shortening services. Although it may be confusing to set up, link shortening services like SQR.co make it simple. Here's a quick tutorial on how to set up A/B testing using SQR.co: 1. Log into your SQR.co account. 2. If you want to use the domain of your main brand use a **sub-domain** like qr.domain.com. * **Don't** use the same custom domain for your custom index page in the submission form. * You can also just use the CNAME record some hosting providers won't allow both A & CNAME records. {% endhint %} 1. Fill in the required fields, most of our customers use a subdomain eg. QR.domain.com this way they can keep using the main domain. 4. The Custom index URL is the page where your customers will land if the custom slug is empty. *You can also leave this empty to show the SQR homepage.* 5. The Custom 404 URL is the page where your customers will land if the dynamic link is not working. *You can also leave this empty to show the SQR 404 page.* 6. When you're done filling in the fields hit the "Create" button to save your settings. 7. Now that we set up your custom domain in your SQR dashboard, it's time to add the DNS record to your hosting provider. Use an **A** record pointing to **199.192.27.4**. ([See an example here](#example-subdomain)) and a **CNAME** record pointing to **SQR.co**. 8. The SQR team will now get notified of your submission and we will manually connect your custom domain. **Note**: In some cases, we need an extra verification to be added to the DNS records, we will email you about this. 9. Most QR codes aren’t that big, though. The size of a QR code corresponds to its version. The smallest a QR code can be is 21 rows by 21 columns, which is version 1. 25×25 is version 2, and on and on. The aforementioned largest QR code possible, 177×177, is version 40. It’s also worth noting that [QR code minimum size](https://sqr.co/page/minimum-size-qr-code) is usually based on scan distance and not data size. ### Error Correction Levels Encoded in a QR code is one of four QR code error correction levels. The higher the correction level, the more damage a QR code can sustain while still being scannable. It’s like a stored backup of the QR code. The lower the correction level, the more space left for size and data. ### Data Type QR codes can store up to 7,089 numeric characters or 2,953 alphanumeric characters. They can also store bytes and kanji, but those are less frequently used. These numbers assume the lowest error correction level. In practice, this means QR code uses include anything that uses numbers, letters, punctuation, and symbols to communicate. Business cards, QR codes on tables in restaurants, authentication, checking into hotels, logging into websites, contactless payments, digital wine lists, QR code food uses, and more.
